What to expect
Fun, friendly and engaging mindfulness classes for 7-11 year olds taught through age-appropriate movement, games, crafting, meditations, relaxation, breathing techniques, conversation and more.
Classes cover a range of topics including understanding emotions, positive self-talk, gratitude, supporting self-esteem and self-worth, navigating social interactions, their relationship to their thoughts and feelings, and relaxation.
Activities will include things like making a gratitude tree, finding out about glitter jars, throw and catch with emotions, short child-friendly meditations, making self-care toolkits and more!
The class will take place in a large classroom-style room with tables and chairs and lots of floor space for games and more. There will be music to match each activity and lots of engaging activities and resources.

Fun and engaging 1 hour class exclusively designed for children aged 7-11 and any individual needs they may have
Expertise from an accredited mindfulness teacher and qualified classroom teacher, Emma, who understands both how to work with children and how to adapt mindfulness activities for them
Activities including but not limited to: movement, games, crafting, meditations, relaxation, breathing techniques, conversation and more
A friendly, safe and encouraging environment so that your child feels comfortable and at ease
All resources for the mindfulness session including crafting materials, coloured pens and paper, teacher props such as glitter jar and breathing ball, and anything appropriate for your child to take away to practice certain techniques at home
About the teacher
Emma is the class leader. She is an ex-classroom teacher who still works in education and has an absolute passion for all things mindfulness. Emma has experience teaching both primary and secondary school children, and has spent a lot of time teaching her students mindfulness, so the content of these classes is recommended by her own students! Emma uses play and creativity to ensure her lessons are fun and engaging. Emma is qualified as a classroom teacher, a mindfulness and meditation teacher and has a fully enhanced DBS certificate.
Where?
Mini Meets mindfulness classes are taking place in the upstairs room at Washington Arts Centre.
You should arrive to drop off your child from 10 minutes before the class start time, ready for the class to start on time.
There is free parking on site or on the road nearby.
There is a café on site for you to relax in whilst your child benefits from this mindfulness class.
Other info
When you book, you will be required to fill in a short questionnaire about your child. This informs Emma, the teacher, to know about any needs your child has, any prior experience with mindfulness, any dietary requirements (in the instance of practicing eating meditations with chocolate/raisins) and anything else she should be aware of. This information will not get used for any other reason.
It is advised that your child wears something comfortable and has layers for when we stay still to practice meditations, relaxations or breathing techniques.
