Mindful Meets has teamed up with ARLO in Jesmond to bring you Small Plates & Meditate.
What to expect
End your day slowly and mindfully with a 1 hour creative, stress-relieving, relaxing guided mindfulness session, followed by a delicious dinner comprising two small plates and a drink (alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available) from Arlo’s delicious menu.
If you are in need of relaxation and releasing stress, this workshop is for you! Practice some self care and learn invaluable techniques to look after your mental health through the power of mindfulness to implement into your existing daily routines and activities.
The purpose of the workshop is not only to hold space for you to let go of whatever you need to and practice some replenishing self care, but also to help you understand how to implement techniques we learn into your everyday life without having to fork out extra time that you don’t have to meditate.
What to expect
An engaging interactive workshop in a safe and friendly atmosphere. We sit around tables lit with candles, warmed by the heaters and snuggled under blankets. We will be accompanied by relaxing music and twinkling fairy lights. The workshop follows an informal structure with lots of opportunities for reflection sharing and conversation. Mindfulness techniques are taught through meditations, visualisations, breathing practices, stories, poems, written activities, creative tasks, and more! This friendly, safe environment will allow you to experience your emotions and reflect deeply on your experience so that you leave feeling connected to yourself and others.
Activities of past workshops have included:
Getting creative and writing meaningful affirmations, followed by a tailored loving kindness meditation including our affirmations
Mindful movement to release built up stress and tension
Discussing and understanding the differences between formal and informal mindfulness, and how this translates to everyday life
Reimagining our to-do list so that it is more in alignment with our values, rephrasing ‘should’ and ‘have-to’ as ‘get to’ and ‘choose to’
Variety of meditations including body scan meditation, mountain meditation and noting meditation
Discussions about how we can use techniques from the workshop to implement into our everyday life
Breathing techniques such as box breathing, balloon breathing, diaphragmatic breaths, and extended exhales, each with explanations for their uses and importance
